MFAH: Author Nicholas Fox Weber

Nov 19, 2009 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
at the Caroline Wiess Law Building

Nicholas Fox Weber, head of the Albers Foundation for the past 33 years, spent many decades with Anni and Josef Albers, the only husband-and-wife artistic pair at the Bauhaus School in Germany. In an extraordinary group biography titled The Bauhaus Group: Six Masters of Modernism, Weber brilliantly brings to life the community of Bauhaus geniuses who worked at the pioneering art school in Germany´s Weimar and Dessau during the 1920s and early 1930s. He captures the life, spirit, and flair with which they lived, as well as their consuming goal of making art and architecture.

Following a lecture titled “Inside the Bauhaus: The Personalities and Their Passions,” Weber will sign copies of The Bauhaus Group. Weber is the author of 14 previous books, among them Le Corbusier: A Life — also available for purchase and to be signed at the event — hailed as the first “full-scale” biography of one of the most influential, admired, and maligned architects of the 20th century.

The Bauhaus Group and Le Corbusier: A Life are on sale now at MFAH Shop, and both titles will be available at the event. Only books purchased through the MFAH Shop will be signed. Call 713-639-7360 for information.

Capacity is limited; seating is first come, first served. The lecture is open to the public. Admission is free.
