The Rice Design Alliance

The Rice Design Alliance relies on its volunteers to ensure the success of its programs. The best way to get involved is to call the office at 713 348 4876 and talk to a staff member about your interests.

Committee participation is open to all members. The committees described below are in addition to volunteer work that can be done on an individual basis. Some committees are by invitation only, but the first step is for members to express an interest in joining.

Membership Committee
Meets 3-4 times a year to plan membership events and evaluate membership requirements and benefits. The Committee also conducts membership solicitations to individuals.

RDA Partners
Meets 4-6 times a year to plan Partner events, including the summer Charrette, the spring FreshPerspectives, and happy hours throughout the year.

Fundraising Committee
Meets monthly in the spring to solicit Corporate Members and in late summer and fall to sell underwriting tables and tickets to the RDA gala.

Auction Committee
Meets on Tuesday evenings on a monthly basis from July through October. Committee members solicit donations for the gala auction in November.

Marketing Committee
Meets several times a year to develop RDA’s clarity of image and examine RDA’s media exposure, fundraising promotions, public relations, and advertising portfolio.

Program Committee
Meets 6 – 8 times a year on to plan and steer upcoming programs, including lecture series, tours, and exhibitions.

Technology Committee
Meets several times a year to evaluate RDA’s technology and to keep it current.

Editorial Committee
Meets monthly to approve Cite articles and themes for its quarterly issues. All members are required to write for the magazine and the blog and to serve as guest editor of an issue.

Tour Docents
The annual architecture tour is held each spring and RDA needs 250 volunteers to assist as greeters and docents. A thank-you party for the homeowners and volunteers is held at the close of the tour.
